New? Nervous?
You’re Exactly Who We Teach
Starting anything new can feel both exciting and awkward, that’s why Level 1 exists. We teach absolute beginners every week, so we pace things sensibly, keep instructions clear, and celebrate small wins. You’ll practise with friendly people, take breaks when you need, and leave your first classes knowing real steps you can use.
- “I’ve got two left feet”Perfect. We start with the basic steps and rythm and repeat as needed throughout the class.
- “I don't have a partner”Not required - we rotate partners in every class and balance numbers — you won’t be left standing.
- “I'm too old for that”Our classes are a healthy mix of 18–65 year olds all starting something new like you.
- “I might have to miss a week”We recap essentials each session, just use one of our Flexi card options to keep momentum if you need more flexibility.
- “I'm not fit enough”Classes are energetic but beginner-friendly.
- “Will I actually progress?”The 7-week structure is designed for real improvement, not just one-off ‘combo’ nights.
Beginner FAQ's
Before attending one of our salsa classes, it’s quite common to have a question or two.
Here are a few that we hear a lot when you’re first considering taking a salsa class. For our full list of frequently asked questions, please explore our full FAQ page for answers.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and supportive shoes with a smooth sole (avoid grippy trainers).
How long is the beginner course?
7 weeks, one lesson per week at your chosen venue. You can read a more in-depth description of each level and what’s involved here.
Can I repeat levels?
Yes. Many students repeat Level 1 to gain real confidence and “floorcraft”, Level 2 two or three times (different content each cycle), and Level 3 has four iterations – you’ll keep learning without hitting a wall.
Are there chances to practice socially?
Absolutely. Not only do we include time during our classes to practice and dance socially to music, we also host weekly social (salsa) dance parties UK-wide.
